Hair Colour Services at Fich+Ramous

Choosing a salon to colour your hair should be based upon more than just a swanky interior,  carefully staged photo-shoots of beautiful models or a national "brand name"  backed by lots of advertising money!

Hair colour is a very personal service, so we train our staff to the highest level, and then encourage them  (and you) to explore together the colour and techniques that will most suit you.

We hope this online guide will show that we are serious (but relaxed) about hair colouring.
New Users - please note that all our colour services require a skin test 48 hours prior to the appointment time.

foils - the why and how

Foils (also called hi-lites or highlights) are an essential and creative tool for the skilled colour technician.  As each foil is individually placed, with any degree of width and volume, and in an enormous range of tones and shades,  the result really is as unique as you.

sample foils provide up to 8 foils and are perfect as a taster of colour or as an accent in one area  (i.e. a fringe or parting). They can be woven or sliced, dramatic or subtle - depending on what kind of effect you require.  A few well placed foils can also brighten up your existing colour whether it is natural or already coloured.

partial foils are very versatile and the foils can be woven, sliced or sections of hair coloured  randomly whatever your wardrobe desires.

full foils  can be woven or sliced depending on the effect you require. It can be as natural or as bold as you would like it. You can add in as many colours as you would like to create a feeling of naturalness or it can be as big as your imagination.

colour change & regrowth

A complete change of colour can produce dramatic and stunning results, or it may be used just to cover grey hair, or to enliven you own natural shade with better colour depth and shine.

colour change  is a permanent hair colour that is applied by our technician on small sections of hair. Starting at the root they will ensure even and extensive coverage to achieve a perfect result. Our extensive colour chart offers a massive choice of shades (depth of colour) and tones (balance of tint colours).

regrowth (or roots) top up your full-head colour previously applied. Not only does it cover natural-colour  new growth, but it also adds renewed colour depth and shine so that your hair looks in great condition.

fashion techniques

Hair colouring has been revolutionised over the past 5 years by new techniques and technology. Below are just some of the methods we employ to create beautiful colour transformations.

shoe shine is a brilliant technique for short-layered styles, probably no longer than 1 1/2 inches. The choppy/funky effect is scattered colour throughout the ends of the hair and will really emphasise the texture of your haircut. This is a permanent hair colour that can be achieved in an endless variety of shades and tones.

glossing is a superb way to give your hair masses of shine, and add intensity and depth to your colour. This semi-permanent hair colour contains beeswax and conditioners that are gentle on your hair and can be used to camouflage grey hair or add depth, sheen and vibrancy to your hair colour, whether natural or already coloured Glossing will not lighten hair - it adds tone.

paintbox  is for the funky guy or girl that likes to be noticed. Paint box comes in all the colours of  the rainbow and when different shades are fused together the result can be striking.
This is not a colour for the faint hearted as it requires lots of TLC. It is a semi-permanent hair colour that must be applied to pre-lightened hair.

complex colour correction

This is where the highly skilled colour technician is worth his or her weight in gold.

changing your colour  is often not as simple as applying a new shade over the top. If you hair has been coloured before you could have different shades at the ends because of sun lightening or frequent washing, there is likely to be root regrowth in your natural shade, and there could be a build-up of colour on the mid-lengths that is too dark. A change of colour under these circumstances means dealing with each part of the hair individually, using different shades and tones on each section.

fixing imbalances or shade problems  can be as simple as dealing with hi-lites that are too yellow or removing ugly dark bands where tint has been over-applied too many times. This kind of problem is dealt with every day at Fich+Ramous.

dealing with colour disasters is a speciality of Fich+Ramous - that's why we are called colour experts. Often these complex problems will require stripping colour from some sections whilst adding tone to others. The technician will be analysing every part of your hair to calculate the precise mix of tones and shades to restore a pleasing overall colour.
If you have a hair colour disaster - DO NOT panic, we have the experience, skills and techniques to help you.
