Q. What if I have my own idea for a design? A. That is no problem. If you see something you like - maybe in a magazine - we can re-create it for your special day!
Q. How long before the wedding should I book my cake? A. Obviously the more notice we get the better, to ensure prompt delivery. We would ideally ask for a minimun of three months to create your cake for you - although of course we will always try and accommodate late notice.
Q. Can you deliver my wedding cake to the venue for me? A. Yes. If you would like us to deliver your cake (locally only), we can arrange this subject to an agreed charge.
Q. What if I am not local to you and would like to order a cake? A. We prepare the cake for collection. All fruit cakes can be collected one week or more before the wedding, cakes with sponge or chocolate tiers one to five days before the wedding (subject to design). We pack the cakes in special delivery boxes and provide a photograph of the finished cake along with assembly instructions for you to give to the venue staff. We also make sure that the initial design can withstand the travelling.
Q. When can I come in to book my cake? A. You are welcome to call at our premises to view the latest designs and discuss your specific requirements. Please ring first to arrange a mutually convenient date and time.
Q. Can I book via the internet? A. Yes, subject to availability. Please email or complete the enquiry form. We will contact you direct to discuss your requirements etc.
Q. Can I have fresh flowers on my cake to match my bouquet? A. Yes, certain designs lend themselves perfectly to this, and we would be happy to discuss with you and your florist.
Q. Can I mix my flavours of cakes? A. Yes, of course. We do recommend that the fruit tiers be placed at the bottom, but if you use a suitable stand then you can choose which tier goes where. We offer fruit, sponge, lemon sponge, or chocolate cakes with filling choices of Jam and Buttercream, Vanilla, lemon or chocolate buttercream, chocolate fudge etc.
Q. How long will my cake keep after the wedding? A. If a tier is on its own board and has not been cut, Chocolate - up to 5 days, Sponge - 5 - 7 days and Fruit up to 3 months. However, if a cake has been cut then we advise you to eat it quite quickly. Fruit cake can have a layer of greaseproof followed by a layer of foil to seal the cut edge and be placed back in the box, but we don't recommend more than a couple of weeks, Chocolate and Sponge go stale very quickly when cut. They could however be frozen for up to 6 weeks. Ask us for details when booking. (Stacked cakes don't keep as long as the icing is disturbed when tiers are removed and air is introduced into the cake).
